What: During this tour, attendees will visit sustainability features and learn about sustainability work at both schools. The tour will end with dinner at Falling Sky Brewery, a local pub with a farm to table menu.
The Lane Community College portion of the tour will include a visit to its LEED Gold Health and Wellness training facility, solar electric vehicle charging station, student-operated organic learning garden, student native landscaping project, Recycling Education Center, and more.
The University of Oregon portion of the tour will feature one of its green research labs, (example: the Biology and Built Environment research lab), the LEED certified REC Center and Straub Hall (and discuss both in the context of the Oregon Model for Sustainable Design), the Student Sustainability Center, Outdoor Program Barn (home to the Bike Loan Program and several Student Sustainability Fund projects), and campus landscaping initiatives.
What to Wear/Bring: Please wear comfortable shoes and bring and umbrella and/or rain jacket.
Transportation: Meet in the lobby at the southwest corner of Building 30 at Lane Community College. We are encouraging participants to ride the bus to Lane. Complimentary bus passes will be downloadable from the OHESC website prior to the conference. The 81 and 82 bus lines both travel to Lane and are accessible from conference hotels. Bus schedules can be found here: www.ltd.org. After the tour of Lane, the tour group will ride the bus together to the University.
